27th June 2017. Presentation of lifetime titles from FIDE, the World Chess Federation, following results from the Oceania Zonal tournament held in Auckland in January 2017, and for Ying Wang a series of webinars and an exam. This presentation was on the same day as our Emirates Team New Zealand win of the America's Cup on the water. We also had to sacrifice our night for the Hurricanes versus the British and Irish Lions rugby game, which finished in a 31-31 draw. From left: Club President and FM Martin Dreyer, FM Leonard McLaren, FA Ying Wang, CM Richard Taylor, FM Daniel Gong, WFM Jasmine Zhang, CM Ben Lim, CM Stan Yee and Life Member and National Arbiter Dr Tony Booth. Tony has been instrumental in the development of Ying, Daniel and Jasmine. Photo by Stan Yee.
