How to join

  1. Register and pay

Fields marked with an asterisk are required. One form per person; each family member joining needs their own — after the first, your contact details and address are filled in for you.

From 1 July a full-year membership is for next year: this one covers 2027, starting in January. To play in club tournaments this year, choose a half-year membership.

    Legal name

Membership questions

Do I need a separate form for each member of my family?

Yes — please complete a separate membership form for each family member joining the club.

Does my annual fee include NZCF membership?

Yes. HPCC is affiliated to the New Zealand Chess Federation, and NZCF membership is renewed annually along with your club membership.

Am I allowed to join other clubs?

Yes. If you have already paid your NZCF membership through another club, you can deduct $20 from your HPCC membership fee — just let us know.

Can I get a refund or transfer my membership?

Membership subscription fees are not refundable or transferable if you change your mind. Our volunteers will be unable to process or transfer your request.

How does the FIDE-rated Club Championship work?

You must be an HPCC member to play.

  • The arbiter selects the top 8 members for the Club Championship; everyone else plays in the Club Reserve Championship — effectively two grades. Both grades are FIDE rated and are played on the same night in the same room.
  • The club pays the NZCF a fee of $2.50 per player.
  • The arbiter reports to the NZCF monthly for the duration of the tournament. Players without a FIDE ID get one issued as part of the tournament reporting process.
  • To appear on the FIDE rating list (published on the 1st of every month) you must play at least 5 games against FIDE-rated opponents and achieve a performance rating of at least 1400.
